- Suffering arises from attachment to worldly desires (wanting things).
- Suffering ceases when attachment to worldly things ceases.
- Freedom from suffering is possible by practicing seven of the eight steps in the Eightfold Path.
- Right view—focus on eternity.
- Right resolve—contemplation of the impermanence of life by cultivating an environment of loving kindness and compassion.
- Right speech—no lying, no rude speech, no gossip.
- Right Conduct—no killing or injuring, no stealing.
- Right livelihood—being content in all things, no greediness.
- Right effort—love others as we love ourselves.
- Fight mindfulness—being conscious of what one is doing.
- Right concentration—to get inner peace seek Nirvana—become nothing.
